Stress – What is and why does it occur.

Stress can be brought on by a number of things such has a family upset or death of a loved one; a disagreement at work; not being able to pay the bills; not being able to afford something; life and people so in other words anything can cause stress. You feel as if you are under an enormous amount of pressure and your moods and reactions are unpredictable.
 
Stress can be described as Fight or Flight mode and its your bodies way of protecting you however you may not feel that its helping you at the time
 
Some common signs that you may be suffering from Stress are as follows:-
  • · Low energy levels
  • · Headaches
  • · Upset Stomach and Nausea
  • · Tense Muscles and unusual aches and pains
  • · Rapid Heartbeat or chest pains
  • · Not very good sleep
  • · Experiencing constant colds and infections
  • · Sexual desire is lost
 
Mental Stress over time could and can harm your health – over the time the strain on your body can contribute to serious health problems such as Heart Disease; Hight Blood pressure; Diabetes and other conditions and mental disorders such as depression and anxiety
 
Some quick ways to combat stress are as follows: –
 
  • · Avoid caffeine, Alcohol and nicotine
  • · Do some exercise
  • · Try and get more sleep
  • · Talk to someone
  • · You could keep a stress diary
  • · Manage your time effectively
  • · Try some relaxation techniques such as Mediation
If you wanted to go the medication route you could as your doctor about antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications the most commonly prescribed ones are Prozac, Paxil or Lexapro but there could be some alternatives to this and I would recommend you seek medical advice.
